Lesbian group Kontra, in partnership with the Union of Autonomous Trade Unions, and in cooperation with ŠKUC-LL from Slovenia, the Center for Sexual and Gender Minority Rights – Iskorak, implemented the “Together for Equality of LGBT Persons in The Workplace” project. The project was financed by the European Commission.

The project goals were to inform LGBT people on the labor market and encourage them to connect with unions, strengthen union capacities to fight discrimination based on sexual orientation or gender identity, and begin cooperation with employers and local administration. The following publications were published as part of the project: “Guide to Work Rights for LGBT Persons”, “Invisible Workers” and “Report on the Status of Human Rights of LGBT Persons at the Workplace”. There were also 6 workshops for union commissioners in Zagreb, Bjelovar, Osijek, Pula, Zadar and Rijeka, and in total 130 union commissioners were educated.

On November 14th, 2011, within the same project and financed by ETUC (European Confederation of Syndicates), we held a conference for Southeastern Europe titled “Together for Equality in the Workplace”.

As part of the project we conceived a campaign “Report Discrimination”. The campaign consisted of advertising material (calendars, planners and pens), city light posters in Zagreb, Rijeka, Osijek and Split, and rainbow trams in Zagreb. The campaigns message “Report Discrimination” was a call to LGBT persons to report discrimination at the workplace to organizations Kontra and Iskorak, and the Union of Autonomous Trade Unions of Croatia.
