At 2011 ILGA Europe conference in Turin Lesbian group Kontra and Iskorak were chosen to host the 2013 ILGA Europe conference in Zagreb. At the same conference Sanja Juras, coordinator of Kontra was elected into the ILGA Europe Executive Board, where she served for two mandates – from 2011 until 2015.
The ILGA Europe annual conference was held in Zagreb from 23rd – 26th October 2013. This was first ILGA Europe conference organized in the region of Western Balkans.
Theme of the conference was protection of family life of LGBT families and the slogan: “Family Matters! Reaching out to hearts and minds”.
Conference was organized under the auspice of the City of Zagreb.

Ministry of Foreign Affairs made a donation to the conference that was used to bring regional activists to the conference.
Vice President of the Government and Minister of External Affairs, Vesna Pusić, attended the conference and presented at the opening panel. On that occasion she stated for the media that marriage equality is an issue of human rights of minority (in context of the referendum).
President of Croatia Ivo Josipović addressed the conference and expressed his support for protection of human rights of LGBT people through a video message.
