Prime Minister Andrej Plenković announced in media appointment of Blaženka Divjak from Faculty of Organization and Informatics in Varaždin, as the new minister of science, education and sport.

We remind the public on the shameful and unlawful acts of the Faculty of Organization and Informatics in Varaždin in case of discrimination of the assistant Dario Krešić, in which Blaženka Divjak participated as the member of the Administration of the Faculty and Pro Dean.

Namely, Dario Krešić submitted in 2010 against the Faculty of Organization and Informatics lawsuit due to to discrimination based on sexual orientation. Municipal Court in Varaždin in July 2012 adopted positive verdict in case of discrimination on the Faculty of Organization and Informatics in Varaždin and determined:

  • violation of the right to equal treatment (discrimination) based on sexual orientation,
  • harassment of Dario Krešić and creating infriendly, degrading, and insulting workplace surrounding based on sexual orientation, and the court finally
  • had forbidden to Faculty of Organization and Informatics in Varaždin taking any actions that would prevent further advancement of Dario Krešić at workplace.

This verdict of the Minicipal Court in Varaždin was confirmed in August 2013 by the County Court in Varaždin.

Also, Administration of the Faculty of Organization and Informatics deliberately tried to confuse public by repeating lies in public statements (such as to say that the lawsuit of Dario Krešić was not successful, or that discrimination was not determined), while at the same time they filed appeal on the verdict that was rejected by the County Court. Then they filed request for revision of the verdict to the Supreme Court and the Supreme Court rejected their request.

The whole case ended with Dario Krašić leaving the Faculty of Organization and Informatics, because the Faculty didn’t end its discriminative actions even after the court verdict.

Blaženka Divjak was member of the Administration of the Faculty and Pro Dean and responsible for discrimination of Dario Krešić on Faculty that included preventing him in advancing at workplace.

We most severely condemn possible appointment of person that participated in shameful discriminative and unlawful actions as minister of education.

Certainly appointment of such person can not bring positive changes into education system or represent progress in Government politics towards creating open and inclusive society.
